I don’t know what to say about this week’s mosaics. I think I was just trying to get through the week and get to Friday and go on my retreat. I can tell you the waiting was worth it. It was great to go away for a few days. I was in a beautiful place in the Poconos with wonderful people. I got to spend a lot of time outside with the trees and stones and sun and stars. I did a lot of drawing and writing and came away refreshed. Scroll down to the bottom to see the “away” creation.
When I started this project I decided that when I had to go away I would do a collage instead of a mosaic. I didn’t want to have to worry about taking glass tiles and tools on a trip. The collages would be made of found objects from where ever I was. I really enjoyed collecting things for the college and I loved putting it all together. Someone said my face was glowing after I made the collage.

I love the collage but also the birds turned out really well – I can see more detail in their wings and how their colors complement each other. The swirling night is also stunning.
